What it involves
A dental emergency is any situation that needs prompt attention, severe toothache, a broken or knocked-out tooth, a lost filling or crown, a dental abscess, or trauma after an accident. We keep time aside each day for urgent care and will see you as soon as we can.

What to do right now
Call us as early in the day as you can so we can find you a time. If a tooth has been knocked out, keep it moist, ideally in milk or held in the cheek, and bring it with you. For pain, paracetamol or ibuprofen can help in the meantime, and a cold compress can ease swelling.
If you have severe facial swelling, difficulty breathing or swallowing, or trauma involving more than your teeth, call 000 or go to your nearest emergency department.
What to expect
When you arrive we focus first on settling your pain and understanding the problem, often with an X-ray. We’ll explain what’s happening and the options to address it today, along with the cost, before going ahead.
Some emergencies are resolved in a single visit; others are stabilised now with follow-up treatment planned. Either way, you’ll leave knowing the plan.

Common questions
I’ve knocked out a tooth, what do I do?
Keep the tooth moist in milk or held in your cheek (not water), avoid touching the root, and call us straight away. Time matters with a knocked-out adult tooth.
Can you see me today?
We keep time aside each day for urgent care. Call as early as you can and we’ll do our best to fit you in.
What if it’s after hours?
Existing patients can reach our after-hours line for urgent advice. For severe swelling or breathing difficulty, call 000 or attend an emergency department.
